Swine Flu Latest News

|

During the past week, the government had made another annoucement to the way it is treating the swine-flu pandemic in the UK. It is no longer trying to contain the illness, instead moving towards a "treatment" phase. Health Secretary, Andy Burnham commented on how "cases are doubling every week and, on this trend, we could see over 100,000 cases per day by the end of August." He then went on to say that "our national focus should be on treating the increasing numbers affected by swine flu."

There is no vaccine for this strain of flu yet, although one is expectd to be ready for September/October of this year. The vaccine will be needed before Decmember, as the virus would spread so much easier in the winter. Our recent hot weather will certainly have helped to contain the virus

Globally, the swine flu pandemic has now spread to 127 countries with over 92000 confirmed cases.
